Dawn Slusher is a writer, business owner and mom of a Type 1 diabetic. After noticing the various symptoms in her daughter Natalie (extreme fatigue, frequent urination, increased thirst and moodiness), she took her to the pediatrician and their lives were forever changed when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. However, Dawn says, “Her spirit is amazing. And you simply can’t bring that kind of spirit down. Diabetes picked the wrong person to mess with. Natalie has taken charge of this disease and doesn’t let it control her.” She believes that the more responsibility she put into Natalie’s hands, the more comfortable she will be in managing the disease now and for the rest of her life.
